Michael J. Lerner, CFP® is co-owner of Nautica Wealth Advisors LLC, a financial planning, wealth management firm located in San Diego, California. He has for the last 21 years been providing his clients with proven tools that keep them focused, and on target for living a life without regrets. Michael earned his professional designation as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) from the College for Financial Planning in 2000. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from San Diego State University in 1992. He graduated with his Master’s in Business Administration from San Francisco State University in 1994.

Michael maintains the following securities registrations through Cetera Advisor Networks:

Series 7 – General Securities Representative Examination
Series 65 – Uniform Investment Advisor Law Examination (held through CWM, LLC)
Series 24 – General Securities Principal Examination
Series 63 – Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination
State of California Life Insurance License

In the past Michael has played an active role in the San Diego Chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Each year Michael strives to give back to his community. Michael served on Professional Advisor Council for The San Diego Foundation in 2005 and 2006. He frequently donates his time to local high schools as a guest speaker and for ‘Job Shadow’ programs. He has volunteered with the San Diego Union-Tribune on a number of occasions for call-in shows and has been featured in the Union-Tribune ‘Money Makeover’ column. Michael currently serves as Treasurer for the Poway Youth Lacrosse program.

His passions include spending time with family and friends, hiking, running, camping, cooking, traveling, watching Chicago Blackhawk Hockey, reading and wine.

Hidden talent/skills: I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen. To me food and wine are such wonderful social tools that bring friends and family together that stimulates conversation and laughter. I’m always in a happy place cooking with or for family and friends.

What motivates Michael: The quality of my life is measured by the quality of my relationships. I am committed to living a great life in relationship with my wife, children, family, friends, clients and acquaintances. Each day provides new opportunities to deepen existing relationships and start new ones. That is what energizes me each morning.

Favorite Holiday: Thanksgiving

Bucket list Items:

  1. Travel with my wife to Italy for a month and stay in a small village taking cooking classes, eating local foods, sipping local wine and espressos, taking hikes, and develop new relationship with the local residences.
  2. Start and teach a Certified Financial Planning program at a College. Start and teach a basic personal finance class that becomes part of the General Education requirement in College

Place Michael would most like to visit: Italy

Biggest Accomplishment: Being in a marriage for the past 20 years and through that marriage raising three healthy children that share common core values that have kept the children centered, loving, generous, and striving for personal growth.
